This is a virtualization of raid 0 using a FUSE filesystem.
All data that is written up into the virtual filesystem, is split up between several other filesystems.
Limits can be placed on how much data can be stored per filesystem.
This can work with any combination of filesystems, as long as the kernel supports them.
The speed loss isn't terrible ranging from nearly one to one to around one to five on my machine.
